OUR STORY

The Olive & the Grape is independently owned and operated by Josh and Rhonni Moffitt in Tempe, AZ. We are a top producer of flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars, as well as other ancillary items that complement these products, such as pastas, olives, tapenades, etc. It is our number one priority to provide the best customer service to all of our customers, as well as top-quality products, and a speedy-production time.

The products we manufacture are available in case of 12-375ml bottles or 24-100ml bottles, as well as in bulk in 10L pails. Our balsamic vinegars are artisan-produced specifically for us in Modena, Italy by VR Aceti. You will find them to be thicker and sweeter than our competitors, due to the fact that ours contains a higher percentage of grape must (the good part!) and less wine vinegar. There are no added sugars or thickeners (or colors), just naturally-aged balsamic vinegar in oak barrels. The base for our flavored extra virgin olive oils is made from a blend of Chemlali, Chetoui and Arbequina olives, and is grown in Tunisia, a country with thousands of years of history producing high-quality olive oils, made without pesticides or other non-organic compounds. We have the olive oil independently tested once it arrives at SGS Labs here in the U.S., tested for both purity and quality, so you can be assured that your customers are buying 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This testing process is done 3-4 times a year. Our flavorings are all natural and vegetarian.

We pride ourselves on processing your orders quickly and efficiently. For smaller orders, processing time is generally within 24 hours – sometimes even the same day. For larger pallet-sized orders, we’ll normally have these ready to ship within 1- 3 days. And multi-pallet-sized orders will usually process within a week. *Please note that orders requiring custom labels may require an additional 1-2 days.

Even during the Covid-19 shut-down, we experienced very few delays and minimal out-of-stock items. We work hard to make sure that we have plenty of inventory on hand so that we can avoid delays due to supply-chain issues, while also maintaining that you receive the freshest product available.

We have focused on being available for our customers (and for those interested in becoming our customer) – very rarely will you have to leave a message during business hours – someone is there to answer your call and get your questions answered as quickly as possible. Josh, our owner, even gives out his cell phone number for immediate responses – even outside of business hours if necessary. Do you have a customer that has a question you can’t answer? Give us a call and, if possible, we’ll answer your question right there in front of your customer.

IMMEDIATE RESPONSE WHEN PRODUCT IS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT

Because our products are fragile and contain liquid, unfortunately, from time-to-time, your shipment will arrive having experienced damaged in transit. Especially during these times of extremely overloaded carriers, we are finding that despite packaging our items at the highest-industry standards they will arrive with some broken bottles or damaged product. Leading the industry, we have created a way to become a team-member with your business. We will provide you with a customized Freight Delivery Checklist and, if followed by you, we will provide immediate replacements for items that arrived damaged. No one in the industry does this. We will work with the freight brokers directly to process the claim, providing them the proof of damage that you provide, and will take the financial responsibility on getting reimbursed.

Since starting the business, we have made it a point to learn from our customers and respond to provide what you need. You will receive an initial phone call from our company after filling out the contact form on this site. We will do our best to learn about your company and find out what your specific needs are, and then tailor a response with that in mind. We deal with all types of business models and each one has certain “best practices” in successfully selling our products. We will help you with tips on how to present the products to your customers, help with fine-tuning our flavors to your market, and just be here to listen when you need some additional assistance. Even 11 years later, we still make sure to learn about our business-owner customers, talk to them directly and help them wherever possible.

WHY OUR BALSAMIC VINEGARS

We source our dark and white balsamic vinegars from VR Aceti in Italy. We have worked closely with them in order to “fine-tune” the final product so that ours is thicker and sweeter than most you will find elsewhere. It is not adulterated with any added ingredients – it is only grape must and wine vinegar – aged to perfection. Our balsamic vinegars contain 80% grape must (the good stuff) and 20% wine vinegar… which contributes to the thicker texture, sweeter taste and the caramel-flavored balance that will tantalize your customers’ taste buds. Most of our competitors’ balsamics contain a lower percentage of grape must and therefore are more acidic and have a thinner consistency… and therefore may cost less than the version that we sell. Quality is paramount to us so we want to offer the best the industry provides… even if the price tag may be slightly higher. You will find your customers will return over and over because they can only find this product at your store. It helps you retain your client base because they become loyal to the best balsamic vinegar they have come across.

WHY OUR EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OILS

We source our base extra virgin olive oil – used to produce our flavored EVOOs – from Tunisia. We’ve chosen to source our olive oil from Tunisia for multiple reasons. Tunisia has been growing olive trees since literally before Christ – thousands of years. They are dry-farmed and hand-harvested. And, although we are not a USDA Certified production facility, the olive oil is organic, which is supported by the fact that the country has been producing olives for thousands of years and the average age of the trees are over 200 years old. We do testing on the olive oil as it arrives to our facility – testing for quality and purity. We provide those test results to you so that you can ensure your customers they are receiving authentic extra virgin olive oils.
